It sure looks like anything will be covered up to $1500.00. There is an adress and phone contact available. Dave:eek:
Iamthesea Posted April 4, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2006 Does anyone know if trip insurance will pay for clothing, if it's ruined by bleach? TIA :) Hmmmm! I ruined a bunch of cruise clothes the week before our cruise with bleach. I wonder if I can somehow claim it? What happened to your clothes? hajekfam Posted April 4, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 4, 2006 I think the poster was talking about the Mercury which, according to posters, had bleach sprayed on all surfaces to get rid of the norovirus. If you read some of the posts regarding the Mercury in March, you will see what they are talking about.
Andipanda1 Posted April 4, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2006 Hmmmm! I ruined a bunch of cruise clothes the week before our cruise with bleach. I wonder if I can somehow claim it? What happened to your clothes? I'm not the OP but the gist of it is that on Mercury the crew is spraying just about every concievable surface with bleach to prevent the spread of Norovirus. People who have leaned against these wet surfaces have had their clothes ruined with bleach stains. Sounds like a legitimate concern to me. tangerinebunny Posted April 4, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2006 We have a spring Mercury cruise booked and if need be will wear the same clothes day in and day out. I hope that people are doing that and not ruining their good stuff.
Iamthesea Posted April 4, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 4, 2006 That's terrible! I had not read about the bleaching. I know how they feel, though. :(
tarheelmjfan Posted April 4, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted April 4, 2006 Thanks for the insurance link & the other helpful posts. :) My DH had to call X for something else, & took the opportunity to ask about it. They said insurance wouldn't pay, but the cruise line would be responsible. He was told that if any clothing is damaged due to leaning or sitting on bleach, you should report it immediately to GS & they will take a report for reimbursement. Just thought I'd pass along the info. :)
Shirley and Les Posted April 5, 2006 #9 Share Posted April 5, 2006 Note the OP is going on the Mercury later this week. I guess they just want to be prepared in case they lean against a surface that has been sprayed with bleach. I guess I would be more concerned about having a good time on a cruise! SandyMc Posted April 5, 2006 #10 Share Posted April 5, 2006 If they are telling people Celebrity will reimburse clothing ruined by bleach, it's news to us! My sister had a dress ruined when she leaned against the bar in the casino on the March 17 cruise and did fill out a report at Guest Services. They simply told her to claim it on her travel or homeowners insurance! Absolutely no Guest "Service" there!!

We have an upcoming voyage on Mercury and I plan to have a good time but also want to pack something 'bleachable' if need be. It's hard to have a good time when your favorite outfit just bit the dust.
