Won't Need P & O

Hi Everyone

Just thought I'd throw this one in.

Its a pic of our lovely river in Katherine (which is currently sitting on 17.56 m at 11.40 pm darwin NT time) and if it keeps rising I won't need to go on my P & O cruise - I can just sail down the main street!!!

In 1998 when Katherine flooded the river peaked at 20 metres.

Looks very muddy - not unlike our rivers in NorCalifornia, many of which are now at flood stage.

We did have a couple of levees break yesterday down in the valley - very heavy winter thus far, with rainfall this season running some 5 inches ahead of normal!

Hi All

Just thought would give an update - the flood has again hit Katherine - at 6.25 am the river was sitting on 18.16 at the bridge with no access to Katherine - homes in south and north katherine have been evacuated as has the hospital and a nursing home. Schools are closed - river expected to peak at 19m

Town still smiling (for now)!!!

Rach
