robc Posted April 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2006 Does anyone know why Freedom is only doing a western itinerary? Why not alternating eastern and western?
Nanatravel Posted April 16, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2006 Maybe in 2007. They are just coming out with those schedules. The Western itinerary seems more Family friendly with lots of beach time plus water sports activities which families tend to enjoy. negc Posted April 16, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2006 It was a business decision and doesn't seem to have hurt advance sales. Last week the cruiseline announced that when the Liberty of the Seas begins sailing next year, the Liberty and Freedom will do alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings with the Liberty sailing out of Miami on Saturdays and the Freedom on Sundays. In 2008, the third ship in the series will be introduced and I am reasonably certain that it will sail a Southern Caribbean route out of San Juan. In the Fall of 2009, the first ship in the Genesis series will be introduced. Few details except for the overall dimensions and passenger capacity of these ships have been released at this time. Perhaps after the publicity over the Freedom's inauguaral dies down, RCI will begin releasing more info about the Genesis ships.
Schplinky Posted April 17, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2006 I'm guessing that West has been done to death and that they know they can sell it with a new ship.
