crazy_kooter Posted April 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2006 We are planning a June 3rd departure for Alaska on the Dawn Princess with a guarenteed BD Balcony room on the caribe Deck. Is this a good room assignment? Also, what are the luggage limitations? Crazy_kooter

spongerob Posted April 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2006 Just be careful of airline baggage limits. Four decent sized suitcases fit easily under the beds for storage once on board.
fnewman Posted April 17, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2006 Previous posts re luggage are correct - but take about 1/2 the luggage you think you will need, because sooner or later, you will be the one transporting it !! We almost always come home with clothes we never even wore. And don't forget to include one carry-on for valuables and for packing 'last-night' items as they will collect your main luggage the night before you disembark. Also, we sometimes take a collapsible bag just in case we purchase too many souvenirs !! As for room assignment, the BD category is a good one; however, as a guarantee, it not at all certain that you will end up on the Caribe deck. You could end up on any deck that has balcony rooms in that category or higher. In my opinion, however, they are all good !
judynorth Posted April 17, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2006 On our first Alaska cruise we had a guaranteed BD (on the Diamond) and were upgraded to a BA. It was mid-ship on the Aloha deck and a perfect location. On our second Alaska cruise we also had a BA cabin (on the Coral) but didn't like it as much because there was a big overhang and it interfered with the view. I don't think that will be a problem on the Dawn. We really liked the covered balcony in Alaska. Unlike the people on Caribe and Dolphin where the balconies are at least partially uncovered, we could enjoy the view even if it rained.
