Miami Airport to South Beach..Taxi or Shuttle?

Hi all,

 

Our cruise is leaving next Sunday from Miami but we are staying Saturday night at a hotel in South Beach. I've heard that transportation is very expensive in Miami so does anyone know what a taxi will cost from the airport, or if there is a shuttle from there to South Beach hotels, what the cost of that is? Not even sure what the standard fares are, or if its flat rate or metered. I'd like to find the best way to do this, willing to pay the going rate but don't want to be stupid either. The taxi is a fixed price, $28 and the shuttle is per person. If my memory serves me correct, the shuttle is around $17 per person so it would end up being more expensive.

 

I'd just hop in a cab.
