Booking the next cruise while on board

Hello all:

We will be in the Liberty in July 2006 and I am already starting to plan a cruise for July of 2007. Is there any discount given when booking a cruise while on board ? How does this discount compare to other discounts that are offered during the course of the year?

They don't selel cruises on cruises anymore (at least Carnival doesn't) they offer their Carnival Vacation Club (kind of a like a time share program)
