berry22192 Posted May 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2006 Was not Cunard's new ship Queen Victoria having her keel laying ceremony on 12 May? Would anyone have any photos or news of the occasion? Amazing, isn't it, that her maiden voyage of late next year is not only sold out but will be occur just 19 months from now? Chris
guernseyguy Posted May 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 15, 2006 Work started on the Queen Vic some time back, but was suspended when priority was given to a Carnival ship - so although the 'official' keel laying was supposed to be on May 12 - in reality work has simply been re-started: http://www.cunard.co.uk/QueenVictoria/default.asp?Active=about&sub=makingof As to 19 months, the Queen Vic will be the sixth 'Vista' class derivative (4 @HAL, ARCADIA @ P&O - btw the POSEIDON movie posters feature an upside down ARCADIA....I'm surprised they are not upset about that...) which in turn is based on the Carnival Spirit class (4 @ Carnival, 2 @ Costa) - so the 12th ship in a run, should have construction off pat.....and although the maiden voyage is sold out, the second one still has availability.......
