tipping on room service?

Although we have cruised many times...we have never used room service. This summer on a Mediterranean cruise, due to early excursions, I think we may have to use this service quite often in the mornings....do people tip the person delivering food to the cabin, ( each time it's delivered ) or is it included in the automatic tip bill at the end of the cruise?

On our first cruise, we had a different person bring room service each time we used it, usually only for our first of the morning coffee. None of them would take a tip. Our second cruise our room steward brought our room service. She was great and we had planned on tipping her higher than the recommended amount anyway and just upped it a little more for the room service but we didn't bother giving her little bits as we went along.

It may vary by cruiseline (automatic tipping)?

On Carnival, for instance, the room service delivery folks are not included in the auto tips, so yes you should tip them for each delivery. I tip $1 for coffee/croissant only, but $2 if I order sandwiches, desserts, etc.:)
