No big deal but why no alarm clocks in the cabins

We took 2 NCL cruises and noticed both cabins had no alarm clocks or clocks of any kind. Are all cruise ships clockless? And if so does anybody know why. We both don't like to wear watches and used our cell phones for the time but were just wondering why.

I am inclined to think that ships do not have clocks in the cabins because of time changes. Many cruise itinerraries include a change of time and sometimes twice. It is probably less confusing for passengers as well as crew to not deal with resetting so many individual clocks.

HI ALL.... If it's a wakeup call you need.....just order room service (maybe just coffee)...and you will get a call about 10 minutes before it arrives...no need for a alarm clock......and it's soooooo nice to relax with a cup of coffee as you get out of bed.......:D

jus' me....jim

No clocks due to the frequent time changes on board ship. Can you imagine what would happen should the cabin steward not set the clock correctly? Simpler for the cruise lines this way and the burden on time keeping is put on you so that if you wake up an hour too early or an hour too late for a shore excursion it's on you.

And it's also possible that it's one less thing they would have to secure somewhere in the cabin as it's possible they could disappear and would require constant replacement. And that could get expensive.

Also... some people (intentially or not) set alarms for times out of the realm of normalcy, e.g. 0400. This can be a rude awakening and if you can't figure out how to cancel the setting a cruise-long annoyance.
