Corfu - on your own !

We will be in Corfu on a Monday from 8am - 6pm.

 

We have never been to the island before, but are not really intrested in seeing museums / monestery's etc that are being offered by the ships tours, and as we are at sea the next two days, can see little point in spending the day on a beach.

 

We would like to see Corfu Town, and if possible see some of the island maybe some of the other holiday resorts.

 

Getting off the ship early and driving would not be a problem, but we would like to be back by late afternoon ( 3.30 / 4.00) so we can have a relax / swim etc before our evening meal.

 

Can anyone suggest anything ?
