Is Boatyard appropriate for kids or just too much of a party beach?

We've heard a lot about Boatyard but wondered if it would appropriate for young children during the day? It sounds like quite a party beach. Sounds like a fun place, but we could do without all the drinking and partying. Thanks a lot!

I've heard that daytime is fine for kids, but the total mood changes when the party starts- much more of an adult environment. Probably more fun for everyone if it's adults only at night, but there is no rule.

Just there last Wednesday. I think it is perfectly fine for kids as long as you're not trying to shelter them from life. It IS a bar, mind you, so people are definitely on the beach drinking - and you might see a topless sunbather or two. But there are alot of fun water activities - jet skis, parasailing, banana boat, etc. and there is a water trampoline and an ice berg/climbing wall thing -- both are out in about 10 feet or so of water. Lots of fun! There were alot of kids (all ages) there.

Once happy hour starts and the sun goes down, you definitely don't want kids there. It is definitely an adult party then!

Yes it is great for kids during the day. We have been there several times. We arrive before lunch and it is a large beach with several different restaurant/bars on it. You could chose to sit in a different restaurant area, but the Boatyard offers the best for the kids. You pay a fee to sit in their area and it includes drink tickets and privleges to use the trampoline and some other kid type fun things on the beach.
