alabama ghost Posted July 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2006 We'll be on the Star Princess in September docking in Greenock. My aunt's family originally came from County Fife. Is it at all possible to get there and back in the course of the one day we'll be in Greenock and, if so, how would you recommend we do it? Any help would be much appreciated. scottie99 Posted July 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2006 Hi Fife covers a large area from Dunfermline to as far as St Andrews It would not be easy to get from Greenock by train, as, depending on which part you headed for, would involve at least 3 changes. I suppose the easiest way would be to hire a car but this would then involve a journey of about 2.5 hours.
edinburgher Posted July 8, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2006 Where in Fife is it that you would be trying to get to? Some places (although a little awkward from Greenock) could be doable, others not.

alabama ghost Posted July 20, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted July 20, 2006 Thanks for all of your help and recommendations. My aunt has decided to wait to go to County Fife when she can spend more time there--a day tour all the way from Greenock won't allow her much time and she thinks might be pretty complicated. Thanks again. We're all looking forward to being in Scotland for the day. Pam
Karen S. Posted August 10, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2006 When you get off the ship in Greenock, there is a local group of wonderful people who are local experts with free bus tours. It sounds too good to be true, but they were really wonderful. Karen
