"On own"Tour Suggest-W.Med.

We are leaving on Sept. 10 from Barcelona to Piraeus, Greece. We have never been to any of these ports before (except Barcelona) and would like suggestions for tours that we can do on our own. If a taxi is fine or if going on foot is enough for the port, I would appreciate knowing that. I would like specifics for each port: Provence(Marseilles), Monte Carlo, Florence/Pisa, Civitavecchia (what towns near Rome are interesting - can you get a taxi - where), Amalfi (how do you book a tour of the coast?), Taormina, Valletta, Piraeus/Athens. We really love small towns and don't want to do "Rome in a day" so would like to go elsewhere beyond Rome.

We used Giovanni from http://www.tourofitaly.com for an all day tour of the Amalfi coast, stopping in Amalfi, Sorrento, Positano, and Ravello. Great day.

We found Valletta very easy to do on our own, following a self-guided walking tour, and stopping at the Siege of Malta, the Grandmasters' Palace, St. John's Co-Cathedral, the Manuel Theater, The Malta Experience, St. Paul's Shipwreck Church, the Upper Barrakka Gardens.
