Anyone do the Lapland tour from Helsinki on HAL?

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow cruisers,

My family and I are booked on the HAL Rotterdam for next July. We would love to do the Lapland excursion from Helsinki just to have the experience going to the arctic circle. The price is a bit hefty,($700. PP) and we were wondering if anyone did this tour. Since there are six of us, $4200. seems to be alot of $ for one tour. Was it worth the money or should we plan something else?

Thanks in advance for your advice. LeMare:confused:

I just went to the HAL website and downloaded the tours for the itinerary we are on. The brochure is for 2006, but I don't think they change them around too often. They may add some new things or omit a couple. At any rate, I wanted to get an idea of what things there are to do at each port, and this was a good start. Hope this helps.

I haven't been to the Lapland myself, but one thing you should know is that it's not going to be very arctic. :D There will not be any snow, and I personally think it wouldn't be worth the 1 hour plane ride from Helsinki.

Then again, some people on this board seemed to enjoy it anyway...
