Any Recent Horizon Cruisiers

Looking for any recent reviews of Horizon to Bermuda out of Phila. Seems quiet, any feedback appreciated.

We are getting set to cruise on 8/14 and anxious to hear how previous voyages went. Weather, service, shows etc.

I've been wondering where the horizon cruisers are myself. We're on the 7/24 sailing.

 

One question I have is can you carry on your own luggage? And how is the situation getting dropped off at the cruise terminal?

sueinphilly: I've never seen anyone take all their luggage with them when boarding. You are instructed to drop off all but your carry-on luggage (the very small pieces with your valuables, a change of clothes, and your meds).

Ok! Just returned on Horizon Phl/Bermuda 6/19-26. In short, the Phila check in was AWFUL -- poorly organized, took over 1-1/2 hours -- and we are Captains Club. Porters and staff were fine -- it was the flow of things that didn't work well. Arrive early if you can!!!Once on board, however, staff and service were superior -- really pleasant. Food fine (good quality, excellent service, medium presentation, not much variety). We didn't go to many shows, but was told there were good (not excellent). Evening entertainment in the Rendezvous Bar was excellent. Cruise director didn't do much poolside until the last sea day...eveing parties by the pool were fun. Guest relations staff were generally helpful.

 

We love this itinerary, as you can see from my signature (if it is finally showing up) and have done the cruise a number of times, altho never from Phila. The service and staff were really special this time, and Bermuda, of course, is wonderful. Any specific questions, I'll be glad to answer!!!

Thanks for the info on your recent sailing. You mentioned arriving early, do you know what time boarding begins in Phila.

Also what entertainment was offered during the evenings while docked in Hamilton?

I believe (not sure) that boarding starts at 11:30... We sailed at 4....but usually get on as early as possible. This time we didn't arrive until 1:30 and did not board until 3 due to the various delays and bottlenecks. If I had it to do over again, I would arrive NLT noon. They did have poolside parties in HAmilton until 11:30 or so (Bermuda regs) and the casinos, of course, cannot be open. They are also not allowed to have "professional entertainment" (shows) on the nights we are in port there, but the lounge and bar entertainment (and Karaoke) were fun and fine. Don't know about Bingo because I am not a player and don't pay attention to when it is available....hope this helps!!!
