Sharman2004 Posted August 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2006 Well, since it looks like taking a couple bottles of my own wine on board is probably not such a great idea these days, I wanted to get some info on the wine packages. Is this something that you sign up for in the dining room? Are there different "levels" of these packages. And lastly, do you save a good amount of money by doing this? Thanks for your help!:p
rnsharon Posted August 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2006 Hi Sharman 2004, Just got back from AOS on 7/31. It is not worth it to worry about taking wine. I did take 2 bottles to have in my stateroom, but that was before all these current issues with airlines. We leave LOS on 12/2 out of tampa. We arrive day before, so I will shop in Tampa and take 2 bottles on again. BUT, this is only because we are wine lovers and we can take on better bottles than what they offer for cheaper. However, we will but the wine package (probably the 7 bottle one) and yes, they have levels that increase in price, but also choice, with each level. It saves money over ordering a bottle every night. You can have your wine in dining room or wherever you want. The wine list is not overly impressive, but you will find enjoyable bottles for every night (at 2x the mark up basically, but no worse than most restaurants.). Hope this helps. P.S. You only get a chance to sign up for the wine package (WINE AND DINE) on the first night in the dining room.
Wolf_Pack Posted August 27, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2006 I contacted RCC looking for information on the wine packages so that I could test some of the offered wines before we sailed, but the information received has not been helpful. The first email, I received details about the soda package (even though I outlined that I wanted a list of the wines on the package so I could pretaste). The second email I received indicated that I needed to contact the pursers office for details when I arrived on board. The wine package seems to be a good way to go, based upon what I've read on the CC Boards, but based upon RCC's responses I'm not very confident that it'll work out once we get on the ship. One thing for sure, I'll be watching this thread just in case someone with the knowledge posts details. Kathy

happy cruzer Posted August 27, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2006 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=330826&page=3 You should find that post 3 has the package details including costs and exact bottles included and post 42 has my analysis of cost savings. I would probably not do the package unless I found a wine on it that was a personal favorite then ones I recognized where very ordinary and savings are small on the few that do save you anything. I'd probably go with the per bottle list. There is alot of other good info in that thread. FYI, It started as a thread about wine only, the moderater decided to add the liquor treads to it and RCI had a policy change this year that gets discussed too but still there are lots of pertinent details in there that you won't find in the liquor threads. Cheers
SharC Posted August 27, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2006 If we get the wine package on our cruise do we just call room service for it to be delivered to our room?
