Vacation Insurance

Usually I purchase the insurance within a few days of booking the cruise. I use insuremytrip.com to see the prices and coverage of all the different companies. This time we booked with that "club" store and they offered insurance for a much cheaper price. It only covers cancellation due to illness but not any other reason. I've used insuremytrip.com for other vacations and luckily never had to use it.

You need to make sure that you are buying trip insurance and NOT

vacation protection. Go to http://www.insuremytrip.com or any similar site and read up on this.

Also note that some trip insurance is primary coverage and other, the less expensive ones are secondary coverage, i.e you personal insurance kicks in first. The latter makes you pay first and then you recover if your primary carrier does not pay. Also note they are age rated.

I have been on 20+ cruises, always bought insurance and never used it.

Being 84 years old it really costs, but I would not go without it.
