Radiance in Alaska 1600 aft or 1060 port?

Recommended Posts

We are thinking of going southbound on the Radiance through Alaska, and both 1600 aft or 1060 port are both available, both with bigger than average balconies....which one would you pick and why?

Anyone have pictures from these cabins that they could share?

Pick the aft cabin. If you don't, I'll hunt you down, change your booking and then steal your doc's. We'll not really but here are some pic's of aft verandas that are smaller than the one 1600 has.

Someone else posted these earlier, and they are really good.

Best wishes.

Are you sure those are from 1600? They look more like cabin 1100 (JS)

Alaska is all about the views, and you'll get great views from either cabin heading southbound. Here are some views of Brilliance 1600:

Now, it's a terrific cabin, and the views from the stern are amazing, but 1100 (the JS pictures that cruiseorbust posted) has a larger balcony. The layout inside 1600 is a little weird, too - the closet is in an awkward spot that can lead to some "discussions" while getting dressed, LOL. 1100 has a walk-in closet and, although you don't get the full suite perks, is really nice for 2 people. Here are some pics of 1100 (on Radiance herself):

We normally book on the stern of the ship if we can, but going southbound you'll still have wonderful views and the more conventional (and spacious, from what I hear) views.

Another thought: 1600 won't have much protection if it rains - most of the balcony is exposed, although there's some cover right next to the door (I just wore my raincoat, had some wine to keep me warm & was fine). 1060 is completely covered, so you'll be able to be out there w/o getting wet.

Unless the suite perks are important to you, I'd try to get 1100 - you'll be on the port side, which is better viewing heading south. Otherwise, consider how much you want to trek - some people don't like the "long" walk to the stern (it takes about a minute, 90 seconds if you're weaving), while 1060 will be right by the stairs & elevators, not to mention across the hall from the Concierge Club.

But anyway you look at it, you can't lose!
