We plan on arriving in Tampa on Dec 16th, the day before our Carnival Miracle cruise. Anyone have any suggestions for a nice, moderate priced hotel to stay near the Tampa Port? It would be a plus if the hotel had a shuttle to the Port. Thanks for any suggestions.;)

There are 3 hotels right at the port. Marriott Waterside, Wyndham Harbor and the new Embassy Suites (I think its open). They are not moderately priced. There are other hotels downtown, close by such as Hyatt, Residence Inn, Courtyard Marriott....again not moderately priced. If you are looking for that kind of hotel you can look in Brandon, FL zip code 33511. They have all kinds of hotels there, LaQuinta, Red Roof, Baymont, Country Inn & Suites, Best Western etc. It is a 7 minute ride across the Crosstown Expressway to the port. I'm not sure about the port shuttle but you can call and ask. Good Luck.

Check hotels in the Westshore/Airport area. Many of them offer a free shuttle to the port. There are some moderate priced ones in the area. FYI - Embassy Suites Convention Center (port area) is not open yet. It is not expected to open for a while yet. There is an Embassy Suites in the Westshore area. Good luck with your search.

We just returned from a cruise out of Tampa, and we stayed at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott near the airport. It was recommended on this forum, and we agree that it is a great place to stay. They have a free shuttle from the airport, and the shuttle carries guests to surrounding restaurants for free. The rooms and beds are wonderful for $99 a night. It costs $20 for taxi fare to the cruise terminal. If you stay next to the cruise terminal, you will likely pay for taxi to get there from the airport.

Just returned from sailing on Carnival Miracle. Stayed at the Residence Inn in downtown Tampa. Got the room on priceline for $57. Very few hotels have airport/port transportation (except the very expensive hotels). Taxis are very reasonable. $22 set price from airport to downtown (plus tip). Six of us, so we fit in one minivan taxi. Residence Inn has free hot breakfast. Great rooms. And very important...free shuttle to port. We also took the free shuttle to the grocery store to get a couple of 12 packs of soda and a few bottles of wine. At the end of the cruise, there was a line of taxis, again $22 back to airport.

Bit more info...We bid 2 1/2 star for $57 on priceline, about 1 mo before our sail date. By default, I knew it was the Residence Inn, since that is the only

2 1/2 star in the downtown area. Was a great hotel, although not alot around hotel. But free shuttle also took us to Ybor city and Channelside, where there are lots of restaurants, clubs and shopping. We stayed 2 nights and had dinner in hotel restaurant one night. Very good food, reasonably priced and huge portions. Very happy w/ hotel and price.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites - Westshore last week. They do have a free shuttle from the airport (and within a 3 mile radius) but not to the port.

That ride from the hotel to the port was $20. Airport to the port is $22.

You will LOVE the Miracle. It is a fabulous ship.

But you have to pay for the taxi from the airport to the Residence Inn.

Basically what we found was either you pay for the taxi ride from the airport to the hotel and then they shuttle you to the port for free.

OR ... you get a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel and you pay for a taxi ride from the hotel to the port.
