AlisonL Posted July 15, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2004 Are the casinos open while the ship is going from port to port in Hawaii? I have heard the casinos must be closed because they are in U.S. waters.

Family of 14 Posted July 15, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2004 Great question that I had not thought of. We leave from Vancouver for Hawaii for a 10 day on the Serenade.. We are at sea for 5 days before we hit the islands. At what point will we be considered in US waters? I love the slots!

donnajo Posted July 15, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 15, 2004 That is not a true statement. I sailed on the Infinity in 2000 (10 day Hawaii) The ships casino opened up as soon as the ship was several miles off shore. Of course the 4 days at sea on the way to Ensenada, the casino was open from about 9am - until the wee hours of the morning! Any ship of NCL doing the seven day r/t Hawaii does not even have a casino on board, so if you are sailing a seven day NCL, you will not have a casino. As long as you are doing a 10 or 11 day on RCCL, Celebrity, Princess, Carnival, Holland etc. you will have a casino open soon after you leave port. Have fun! No ship can operate a casino inside the 12 mile limit of US waters. Hawaii does not allow any cruise ship to operate their casino within their state. Yes ship casinos can be opened in route to Hawaii.
Cruising Fan Posted July 15, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2004 Returned from the Serenade sailing May 10th Hawaii to Vancouver. Casino is OPEN-OPEN-OPEN except the overnight stay in Maui and of course the night you leave Honolulu. That's 9 nights to gambling on our 11 day cruise. Enjoy! Soozin Posted July 16, 2004 #10 Share Posted July 16, 2004 We went on the Radiance almost 2 years ago and the casino was open after we left port each night. And, of course, it was open on the way to Ensenada. Soozin
