we would like to rent a car to see the island and go snorkeling at several sights anyone have any ideas will be there feb on destiny

I would recommend Stoutes Rental Car. I believe they have a stand at the cruise terminal, but you could also check them out on the internet.

We visited Barbados on 11/20 and rented a car from Stoute's. We didn't make a reservation but just walked up to the booth outside the cruise terminal. The guy didn't show up until about 9am even though the office appeared to be open, so we just waited for him.

 

We rented a moke for around $85.00, taxes, fees and all. We drove north and then cut across to the east coast. The scenery is beautiful. Using a map, it's fairly easy to navigate out in the countryside, but it is all but impossible to find your way around Bridgetown. We had to stop and ask directions 3 times in order to find our way back to the ship. The streets don't have signs and traffic was crazy!

 

It was a lot of fun and driving on the left wasn't bad!

Highly recommend renting a mini-moke rental from Stoutes. These glorified golf carts are lots of fun to tool around in. As a previous poster said, downtown can be a little difficult. The majority of the island is easy to manage, with very little traffic. Driving on the left feels weird at first but you get the hang of it fast. The traffic circles can be challenging until you get used to staying on the left. To really enjoy Barbados you need to get out on the island...
