Upgrade potential?

Having booked a guaranteed cabin, I received my cabin number about one month ago.

 

The cruise is now about two weeks from sailing and I noticed that they are offering free upgrades to new purchasers. Several cabins are available.

 

Is there a chance I will be give an upgrade, in spite of having a ticket with the cabin number already shown?

If your cabin has been assigned, you will not be getting an upgrade.

Not impossible, but very slim chance...

So if you have a cabin number can you contact your TA? Are they able to get an upgrade for you through talking with Carnival? Or at least an onboard credit? Our price has gone down by $80pp with a free upgrade for new bookings. Our sailing is Jan. 26th, 2007.

Call your TA. I noticed a 'free upgrade' on carnival's site after final payment. i called and did get the upgrade.

Actually, I'm doing this cruise on the cheap, single status, inside room.

 

When I previously contacted my TA (an on-line outfit) about moving the sailing date up earlier after seeing a lower price for that date, I was told it would cost $200 to make that kind of change.

 

Ironically,I hardly paid more than $200 for the cruise, so that was out.

 

Pricing cruises is an interesting game. I just wish I was better at it.
