sea-u-later Posted December 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2006 We will be in New Orleans for Madi Gras soon and we're looking forward to the parades, food and music. But my friend was saying that they have a lot of voodoo type shops. Look, I know its all in fun, but do they really have shops were you can get spells and good-luck charms? Yes, they have Voodoo shops - I wouldn't say it a lot (in fact I can only think of 2 or 3). There are shops that SAY they have Voodoo stuff, but many of them are tourist type places, not real. Voodoo is a religion practiced by some here and yes, they do sell gris-gris.

BeadBabe Posted January 4, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 4, 2007 There are several shops in town. Mostly touristy and likely not very authentic. But MUST SEES: Voo Doo Museum: http://www.voodoomuseum.com/ It's right in the French Quarter, off Bourbon on Dumaine Marie Leveau's House of Voo Doo shop right on Bourbon as well. French Quarter, right on Bourbon, just down from the Wyndam Bourbon Orleans Hotel.
