Holly2 Posted December 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2006 We just got back from the Mercury 12/01 cruise. Based on suggestions from here we were able to arrange two wonderful tours. Mazatlan -- yes, Mazatlan Frank really is that good. We have toured with the recommended guides in other ports and Frank is really the best. It's hard to imagine a better run, more comprehensive or enjoyable tour. Frank is outgoing and very knowledgeable. We did the Coppola/City tour and saw and did an amazing amount having a great time and learning a whole lot about Mexican life now and in the past. The town of Coppola, a brick "factory", cliff divers, modern and Old Mazatlan were all highlights. A wonderful day! Puerta Vallarta -- We did a private tour with Tony Sanchez. Tony seems to be a "hidden gem" and provided an excellent experience at a reasonable cost. He is extremely informative and accomodating, even literally stopping traffic for us to cross the street. We were a small group doing an abbreviated City/Jungle tour which allowed for a high degree of flexibility. He was able to recommend wholesale places and made several extra stops so people could buy whatever they needed. We did all the tourist stops --Tequila factory, the different parts of the city -- but also went off the tourist track to a more typical residential area. The Jungle was a great contrast -- beautiful scenery and a lovely ride out there and back. Another wonderful day!
carbon Posted December 13, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2006 How did you book Tony and what was the cost?
Holly2 Posted December 13, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted December 13, 2006 His email is tonysan7@hotmail.com. His usual charge is $200 for up to 14 people. We had only 4 so he charged us $30 each and did a shorter tour of just over 4 hours. Comfortable van with A/C; his English is great. Any other questions?
