12/9 cruise: Seabourn-SeaDream Comparison Part 3: The end

I agree Allison, about SD. I was looking at a cruise, but was discouraged not only by how much more expensive a two week Caribbean cruise was (no discount for back to back), but the single supplement was huge, and the cabins small. I think for my needs SB suits me just fine.

Hope to see you soon, Allison. I miss everyone from my cruises. I liked seeing you around the ship!

Jane

Great review, Jen. Thanks for doing such a well balanced comparison.

The one thing that has stopped me from trying Seabourn is the posts I've read about dealing with so much smoke. How did you find that the lines compared there?

Thanks,

Kathy

DH has has asthama and allergies which are aggravated by smoke ... Our cabin never smelled smokey on either ship. Smoke wasn't an issue in either dining room on SB or SD.

One of the places where it was enough for us to comment on this trip was walking down a hallway from the dining room to our suite. A gentleman was in the hallway smoking but once we passed him and entered out suite it was fine.

In addition, DH said the only place where it was an issue for him was by the "Sky Bar after dinner as this was the only place to see the stars at night since they packed up the loungers and chairs. It also seemed to be the place where smokers congregated." There were smokers on SD al fresco but since there is more deck space it was easy enough to find a spot and a drink and a comfy chair/lounger where no one was smoking.

Smoking is allowed outside on SD but not in interior spaces. SB permits smoking in the suites which SD does not. SB has no smoking in the restaurant, in the main show Lounge during performances and lectures, on the starboard side (right side facing forward) in the Observation Lounge, The Club and the main show lounge and in the ship’s elevators.

We didn't hit the casino this trip so I can't comment.

Smoke wasn't really an issue for us this trip.
