Serenade/San Juan board then leave to sightsee San Juan

Recommended Posts

I have friends sailing on the Serenade out of San Juan. Their flight arrives mid afternoon. Would it be possible to board the ship, and then leave to sightsee in San Juan for a few hours before sailing that evening? Have any of you done this? Thanks so much.

Yes, Once you check in and are onboard with your activated Sea Pass, you can leave and explore San Juan and return later. Just find out what time you are due back on the ship. ;)

Yes, you can get back off the ship to go explore after you've checked in and boarded. One note though, the Serenade leaves from the Pan Am Pier which is about a 20 minute taxi ride away from Old San Juan. They need to leave plenty of time to get back to the ship. They have to be back onboard before 8pm for the muster drill.

Also, depending on what they want to see, they need to be aware that the forts close at 5pm. So if they want any chance of seeing the insides of either El Morro or San Cristobal they need to head straight there. On the other side, there is still tons to see and do in Old San Juan even if the forts are already closed.
