Help us plan our tips

We are going on our first ever cruise this year to celebrate our 30th anniversary together. On princess, they use the automatic tipping plan but beyond that, we need advice. We are going with Capt. Larry out of Juneau (thanks to many of your wonderful advice). We are taking the White Pass train out of Skagway and we are fishing with Northern Lights in Ketchikan. There are two of us so help both of us!!! Thanks again for all of your help and suggestions! We leave on a Southbound out of Whittier on 08/28!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What specific questions do you have? I think this may be why nobody has responded to your post yet.

 

About the White Pass Train ride.....it was very cold as we were taking photos during the train ride...standing outside on a balcony. You will get to levels where there is snow....and with the movement of the train....we used gloves/hats....along with our lined raincoat!

 

The train ride was narrated. We tipped the young lady who had that job. Unfortunately, a lot of folks do not tip on the excursions. We like to tip the bus drivers, tour guides, etc.... even if it just a few dollars. They are always very appreciative.

Or, tipping the tour guides? Or tips on the trips you have planned? What cruiseline are you on? Each one can be slightly different with their suggestions.

We are trying to budget our expenses and wondered about tips for group activities such as Capt. Larry and the White Pass train.

I always tip the room steward extra- last trip $20, if you budget $50 - it should be plenty for land and ship.
