*Cruising in December? What's the weather Like?*

We chose December to cruise this year and we've know people to cruise in December and January. What is the weather like in the caribbean in this month? Here is our itinerary.

*San Juan

*St. Thomas/St. John

*Dominican Republic

*Labadee, Haiti

Anyone have any ideas? Thanking you in advance!!! :D

For our December cruise which was Eastern Caribbean Miami-San Juan-St Thomas-St Maarten-Nassau-Miami, the following happened....

 

16th Dec - It rained all day at the port of Miami :( (not heavy, just light drizzle) it was miserable but unusual I believe.

 

17th Dec - At sea, it was overcast but not cold, I believe the sun came out a little in the afternoon

 

18th Dec - San Juan, Lovely and sunny probably in the low 80's extremely pleasant

 

It then stayed like that for the rest of the cruise and back to Miami :D

 

But you know you can never trust the weather, right? ;)

We cruised from 10Dec til 16Dec this past year and it rained every day. I attribute this to the weird weather patterns as we have in the past had great temperate weather in December.

Thanks. I was trying to get an idea of what to expect. We are leaving out of NJ. So, I know in Dec. it will be COLD COLD COLD!!! ;)

Sailing from NY in December, you can expect it to be quite cold on embarkation day, as well as the first day at sea. By the 2nd sea day it will likely be in the 70's. Of course, the reverse will be true coming back. I would hate to have to pack for a trip like that!

That's my next question I want to put on the boards!! How do I pack for a trip like that? :D

Layers. We left from NJ in late October and for the first sea day most people were in full length pants and sweaters over long sleeved tshirts.

 

The really good side of cool weather is that it's more fun in the hot tubs.

Yeah, I figured that we will need to dress in layers.
