Anyone Recommend Reasonable Anchorage B&B?

Anyone know of a bed and breakfast in Anchorage with a reasonable price for Q or K room with private bath, and breakfast? 200 or more in various sites but know nothing about any of them. Draw a straw? $100 or less is goal.

Will you have a car??? If so- I've stayed here a few times- very nice B&Bs- http://www.teddybearbnb.com/rooms.html http://www.1chickadee.com/rates.htm

All my rooms this August trip are below $100 for me, but I have low standards :) and don't mind shared baths.

Will have car and not particular about where in town. Mainly just stopping there going north and south and down to ship. Have email in to one or two w/o 800#'s and a couple that sounded nice were full for end of August. Anymore out there? And General, its almost winter!!!!

John, check out the Elderberry B & B. It is a small place. Got favorable reviews in Frommers and another tour book, and we will be staying there after our cruise in August. The couple who run it were extremely friendly and helpful to us when we contacted them for information. They will be glad to recommend other places if they are booked. They have a web site.

Good luck

Tara Dells in Palmer worked for us last year. If you're going north and south Palmer will work for you. There are several up there that sound like what you're looking for. We had a very reasonably priced room that was huge with a queen bed and private bath and entrance. Room rate included a great breakfast as well as laundry and internet use. I'm thinking we paid well under $100 the 1st or 2nd week of August. http://www.taradells.com/

Ellie and Hooked on Travel,

Thanks, I am on it. Thought about Palmer as someone on here was describing a great bnb that they stayed at there but wasn't sure if it would work, when I realized it was 42 miles away. Good when we go to denali, but not when we come in at airport at o-dark-30!! Or when we head to Homer or Seward. But still checking. The state fair that weekend may be a factor also. Thanks again. More More.

We stayed at the Big Bear B & B and really weren't very happy there. Too many house rules- Only 4 people could eat breakfast at a time, and if you didn't sign up early for the 8 AM breakfast you had to either come at 7 or 9 rather than being accomodating. Nice people, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Some areas of Anchorage are a lot nicer than others. Don't just stay anywhere. That neighborhood was the only place in Alaska where I made doubly sure that I locked the rental car.

I know it takes all kinds of people to make up this world. I know several that have spoken very highly of this B & B including, I think, Budget Queen. So DO NOT take the last post on this subject as the last word !!

There are tons of bnb's in the alaska or anc bnb associations, visitors guide, websites and google searches. Especially if you want to spend $110-135 a night. But since we are booking at least 9 nites on our own, I was trying to see if I could stay under $100 with breakfast. I think I did. It just takes twice as much legwork, when you want clean room and bath and comfortable bed. We are mostly sleeping and going and not spending any sit around time. Good luck to al of you still looking. I have several websites here too if someone has questions.
