Snorkeling in San Tomas or Costa Maya?

Hi!

We are going on a HAL cruise to Guatamala, Belize and Costa Maya. We sort of have our hearts set on cave tubbing in Belize which, I read, has great snorkeling. Sooooo I am wondering if anyone can tell me if there is good snorkeling in either of my two other ports of call? And what company to use or whether we should just do the snubbaing with HAL in Costa Maya?

Thanks!

In Costa Maya just go into town and look for the signs along the beach. You can pick up a local snorkel tour for about $15 a person. It won't be a fancy boat, but a local will take you out to the reef, show you where to get in, which direction to swim and wait on you for like an hour. Nice reef there and lots of fish. When we did it, we had a private snorkel with just the two of us. Just the way we like it--uncrowded!!
