Many online travel agencies will give you a quote without your having to give all your personal details. This forum does not allow me to mention them, but some of the advertisers on Cruise Critic give online quotes. Here is their list of advertisers: http://www.cruisecritic.com/shipshop/index.cfm

If HAL's computer system is having trouble, travel agencies may not be able to access current prices.

I get quotes from many online agencies and book with one of them. I have not used a local agency for years. HAL's website has consistently been more expensive than my online quotes. If you are a cruise savvy individual, I recommend online booking. If you need your hand held, find a local travel agent.

Thank you for the info, as I do appreciate it. I used an online booking in 1999 for the Sea Princess. We had horrible dining service and other things happend .

We did book a suite. When we returned I called the on line agency that I booked with to help me file a complaint with Prinicess and bascially was told to do it myself. I do understand that sometines you get better deals but if there is a problem I want to be assured that someone will help me.
