Tours in Greece

My husband and I will be on the Westerdam in July - we are wondering about the "private" tours which HAL offers. Last summer in the Baltics, we used Esperance (affiliated with Virtuoso), and we went to the front of every line, etc, were in a small group of 4, and felt we had very good tours. I'm wondering if anyone knows how independent private tours might compare to HAL's more individualized options.

Thank you!

We have always found Athens such an easy city to see on one's own. There are guides up at the Acropolis that will take you around and explain everything to you.

If you want to use a private guide go to the Europe Ports Board and have a look there. We did use a great guide to take us to see the sunset at Sounion when we were there last in 2004. I have forgotten his name but if you call up Athens and guides, I am sure you will find him as we took the recommendation from the Board. If you have any time at all, go to Delphi, it is fabulous but it is a full day trip.
