lizinindy Posted February 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2007 Can anyone figure out why the Infinity 3/11 cruise changed the port arrival time for Manta, Ecuador from 8 am to noon?
florisdekort Posted March 1, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2007 Having been there last year I can honestly say, you would be better off bypassing this port. It is a complete dump. Furthermore, we were there on a Sunday and *everything* was closed. Everything. The city was deserted except for homeless people. It felt unsafe as well. We were back on the ship within the hour! That said, maybe we simply made the mistake of not booking a shore excursion. Maybe if you book a tour to the inlands or to something special, things will work out better. Captain Cosmo Posted March 1, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 1, 2007 If Infinity is not able to make her top speed she may need the additional time to reach Manta. It would be great if someone onboard could check the navigation channel on the tv and tell us what her speed is.

It would be great if someone onboard could check the navigation channel on the tv and tell us what her speed is. That doesn't mean anything. We cruised at 9 knotts from the Falklands to Cape Horn, not because the ship couldn't make her maximum speed, but because that was the maximum speed they needed to get there on schedule. The same last week, we cruised at 7 knots from San Juan to St. Thomas... because we had 11 hours to cover 74 miles... If Infinity couldn't make her maximum speed, it would affect more ports of call then only the stop at Manta 3 weeks from now...
