webgal318 Posted February 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2007 Sailing MOTS March 18 I would like to take a beach break in the afternoon. How far is Magen's Bay from the pier? What does a taxi cost? What is available for shopping? I will be looking for jewelry. Thanks for any help you can give. :)
FranD Posted March 1, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2007 To answer your question about the taxi, I'm not sure of the distance but in February it was $8 per person (with a $3 charge for Magen's Bay). Beautiful beach! Enjoy! You will be hard put to "do" all the jewelery stores, they are in great abundance, both downtown and at Havensight. cruisepuke Posted March 2, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2007 How about this - it it possible to do Magen's beach in the morning and still get back to the pier (100PM) to catch the boat over to St. John for the excursion to Trunk Bay??? Wife and I have been to Trunk Bay before and it is our all time favorite, but we also wanted to give Magen's a try. Thoughts?
webgal318 Posted March 2, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted March 2, 2007 My answer is 'yes' if you take a cab for the beach. From what I read, it is about 20 minutes to Magen's Bay. Google Magen's Bay and you will find a couple of cab companies that charge $16 r/t.
The Islander Posted March 4, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 4, 2007 Hello, Webgal - Magens Bay from Havensight is about an 18 minute drive in low/medium traffic. Its $8 pp, ow for taxi. No shopping at Magens Bay except for a small boutique/shop - it has swimwear and resort/beachwear. For jewerly shopping downtown and Havensight - they have a whole range of prices, gems, silver, gold, brands etc. If you are looking for particular items you might posts them and folks might be able to give tips on where to shop for what you are looking for and what to expect. cruisepuke - If its possiable to visit Magens and do a St. John trip depends on what time you get into port/off the ship and what time you have to be back to the ship. Is the St. John trip a cruise excursion or you plan to go on your own by ferry? --Islander
cruisepuke Posted March 6, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 6, 2007 We arrive at St Thomas at 700 and depart on a Princess excursion to Trunk Bay at 115PM. I think we will give it a shot and see how it goes. Thanks for all of the replies :D
