Which Ship and Why??

The have until later this fall the same basic itinerary. The three Pride ships are entirely different in appearance and layout. Each accomplishes Freestyle Cruising in different ways.

The newest and largest is the Pride of Hawaii, based upon and built at the Meyerwerft shipyard in Papenburg Germany.

The oldest and smallest ship is the Pride of Aloha, based upon a Bremer Vulkan Shipyard design from Bremer Germany for Costa Cruises. It was to be called the Costa Olympia, a sister to Costa Victoria. Bremer Vulkan Shipyard went bankrupted, and NCL bought the uncompleted hull and had the ship completed with major modifications at the Lloydwerft Shipyard in Bremerhaven Germany.

The second largest and newest ship is the Pride of America, based upon a Litton-Ingalls shipyard design from Mississippi for American-Hawaii Cruise Lines. American-Hawaii Cruise Lines went bankrupted following 9-11-01. Again, NCL bought the partially completed hull, modifed and had it stretched, and completed building the ship at the Lloydwerft Shipyard in Bremerhaven Germany.

So, each ship is of a different design. Whichever one you choose is an excellent ship for a Hawaiian cruise. Check out the Deck Plans for each of the ships, and pick the one best suited to your needs. Have a great cruise.

We just returned from a cruise on the Pride of America in February...one of the two best cruises I've ever taken... The Saturday departure worked best for our party. We flew out a couple days early, and did the sights on Oahu, and did some more there on the Saturday after we debarked.

I found in another thread some links to inside and outside pictures of the Pride of America. They are a couple years old, but the ship looks the same... The links:
