nycruises Posted March 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2007 I'm thinking about making my next cruise on RC. Can someone tell me what the good parts and bad parts there are i've sailed both princess and carnival. And I want to give someone else a try as i'm not the big drinking casino all night kind of person. Thanks for your help and answering my question
Dspcentury Posted March 18, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 18, 2007 Nycruisers...... I have only travel with Carnival and Royal Caribbean. I can tell you that I like them both and never had a bad time. I did notice that for my age group that Royal Caribbean was better suited for me because I found more people of my age were on the ship. All I can say is give them a try. They do have plenty of activites that do not involve drinking and gambling. Play some miniture golf or go swimming or if you are adventurious then try mountain climbing!! I hope this help!! David........................... Well i'm about to turn 30 this sept and while it was great to act like a 22 year old kid after a few days of it i had enough drinking and partying and was really looking for some down time that i found the only place to get was on my balcony. I would sail carnival again but not this time of the year probally but i think royal caribbean sounds like fun even the rock wall sounds like something worth trying
Dspcentury Posted March 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 18, 2007 Nycruisers.... I just thought that if you are looking for down time..on Royal Caribbean they have a area called "The Solarium" and it is for adults only. I found it to be nice and peaceful. You will not find that on Carnival. David................................

So there's not an OVER abundance of partiers, or and OVER abundance of boring people, etc. It's a really great rounded bunch, I think you'll have a great time! :)
Sue L Posted March 18, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 18, 2007 I have been on Carnival, Princess and Rccl and RCCL is our favorite. Princess was very nice but in our experience (5 cruises) we found the crowd a little more sedate. We loved the age variety on RCCL and they had a ton of stuff to do. We are not big partiers but never failed to find a nice bunch of people to hang out with and listen to music or whatever and drinking did not enter into the fun. I sailed Carnival 3 times on different ships, 1 very old, 1 was 3 years old and one was brand new so I believe I got a good cross-section of what they have to offer. For a variety of reasons, which are too long to go into here, I do NOT plan to sail them again. We took our first RCCl cruise on the Explorer last Sept and everything about it from the food, service, amenities and entertainment were wonderful and truly the only complaint we had was the beds but they are now in the process of replacing all the beds fleetwide which will be completed in May. We love RCCL so much we are sailing them again next week (WOOOHOOO) and have another booked for August. We are also planning to book another while on board next week.
