Slightly random question maybe for cruise vacations...

But does anyone know if there are any places to ski near any of the ports in Alaska? Any additional info of course would be welcome too,

The snow will be gone during cruise season, but Aleyeska is the premier Alaska ski resort. An hour from Anchorage.

There is summer skiing on glaciers, but it would be heli-skiing or ski mountaineering. There are no lift-served ski slopes that operate in the summer.

That would be a true adventure! Well, I will probably take a Warren Miller DVD with me as an alterntive. :D

Photos from the Alyeska tram at Girdwood the last weekend of May, 2006, following our cruise.:) Wouldn't go planning to ski, but if your cruise is early enough... maybe you'll get lucky!
