great report!
am sailing 24th may, and after reading your report am getting really excited.
i will be travelling with my sister, 60+, my daughter, 16 and son 11, i am 44.
- are there likely to be other children onboard?
- am i right in thinking that there are gentlemen to dance with if you are a single lady?
- can the children just go and eat when and where they like during the day?
thanks

There were at least 5 gentlemen hosts on the 1/31/04 voyage. I have a friend from the UK that used to be one. Yes, they dance with all the single ladies...where I saw them was in the Queens Room

WOW...it was over a year ago that I was cutting through the North Atlantic's inky waters with Crouton, JP, Nathan, et al. onboard the RMS QUEEN MARY 2. It was certainly a trip that will be long remembered. Seeing the QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 off of our side throughout the trip, to me, was the highlight of the crossing. Also traveling at such a fast speed on a majestic liner made the crossing even more spectacular. There were times when we were doing 29 knots.

This year I was on a majestic sternwheel steamboat DELTA QUEEN heading up the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers the last week of April. Our break-neck speed was at times 5.5 miles per hour. Above Louisville we were making over 6 miles an hour. Both trips were wonderful, and both were celebrations of maritime history. Either end of the cruising spectrum were represented. I am truly blessed to have experienced both, and like the crossing the year before, this trip too will be etched in my memory.
