HEMLINE Posted April 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2007 Can anyone recommend a reliable, safe limo service in Bangkok to take us from our hotel to the pier in Laem Chabang? What would this trip cost and how long does it take? Thanks a lot! Hemline
CruiseKidz Posted April 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2007 I don't know how much a limo would cost or if they are available in Bangkok, but the trip by road is min 2hours, depending on time of day and traffic. CruiseKidz
willing292 Posted May 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2007 it's my understanding that unless the taxi/limo has special port permits, they are not allowed into the port area. the ports for Bangkok are large container ports and passenger facilities as they exist in the USA, are not there. for this reason, we are booking dtransfers with Princess. Smiles3usa Posted May 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2007 In October 2005 I used http://www.orientalescape.com for our trip from the port to Bangkok. The car they used was a late model toyota that was very comfortable (and roomy enough for all our luggage). The cost from the port to our hotel was 1800 BHT (@$45.00US)--the ride was a bit over 2 hours. This was approximately the same costs as taxis available at the port for hire--but the taxis did seem smaller than the car that we had. Interesting item about oriental escape is that we did not get off the ship until @ 1pm and our driver, who we had alerted to be there at 9:00 am, was still there holding a sign for us! Note, the driver did not speak much english. However, on the way he used his cell phone to call the company and we spoke with them. They offerred additional services in Bangkok at greatly reduced prices (like $20 for an 8 hour city tour) but we had already made arrangements both with our group and by ourselves. Finally, the other item that I liked about this outfit was we did not pay until after the service had been rendered. I am always a bit leary paying up front for a company no one I know has heard of. BTW, we had payment ready in Thai Baht. Have a great trip!
BettyNL Posted June 2, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 2, 2007 Smiles3usa....... Thank you very much for posting the information about Oriental Escape: this looks like just what we want when will be visiting Thailand :) There will be four, possibly six, of us and we want to have only transportation from the port into Bangkok & back again the same day. Needless to say, the fare certainly beats anything we can get on the ship
