derf5585 Posted April 22, 2007 #26 Share Posted April 22, 2007 Since the ice buckets are small can I get a beer helmet to put the ice in.
excalwop Posted April 22, 2007 #27 Share Posted April 22, 2007 When we take a cruise we bring along our collapsable ice chest w/ wheels and have a 12pk of soda and a 6pk of bottle water With NO ice in it. and have a luggage tag on it. Had done this on our last three (3) cruises. On our last cruise (Valor Nov 06) We found that our stewart had taken out one 6 pk of soda and four bottles of water and added ice. He kept it filled with ice the whole cruise. He even checked up on us to make sure that we did not run out of ice.He even put four extra glasses. He got a very nice tip. Will be taking the ice chest with us on our Nov 07 cruise on the Destiny Paul
Dawn125408 Posted April 22, 2007 #28 Share Posted April 22, 2007 We plan on bringing our collapsable cooler. It's just me, but the idea of putting something I'm gonna drink in a "trash" container that who knows what may have been in there doesn't sit right with me:p . I know, it's been cleaned, but some kinds of germs just can't be cleaned off that easily. The coolers are quite inexpensive.

Darthtater Posted April 23, 2007 #30 Share Posted April 23, 2007 I always bring a collapsible cooler and the steward always fills it with ice-without me asking. I chill my wine in it, and when we get off the ship in port, I use it to carry drinks or if I find a neat deli, I'll get something there to have for a picnic at lunch. It's a very handy thing to have with you. (I also have a kid who is the ear infection king, and his antibiotics often need to be kept cool, so once in a while, it has served as a medicine storage unit.) I also gave the garbage can idea a yuck-I'm not a neat freak by any means, but I think would detract a bit from the wine experience to get the wine from the garbage can-jmho. Math4Aggies Posted April 25, 2007 Author #31 Share Posted April 25, 2007 I guess I had imagined the trash bin having a liner that would be fresh, but it could get icky if I thought about it. I just found our old soft sided cooler [haven't seen it since swim meet days] and put it in the "BRING!!" pile I am working on. Thanks for all the suggestions! janice
