knarf Posted May 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2007 Would like to know if I can park our rental car near pier 2 as I board the ship on Sat. and then get back in the car and do some things in Honolulu Sat afternoon. I will then want to park the car for the night , so I can do some things Sunday in Honolulu before the ship sails at 6 PM. Are there parking garages or places that I can park closeby and walk back to the ship ? Thanks so much for the info. Frank
bug_dan Posted May 18, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2007 You can park at one of the garages shown here but they are a fair distance from pier 2, maybe a 20 minute walk. http://www.alohatower.com/transportation.html The parking at piers 5/6 does not officially allow overnite parking. What happens if you do park there overnite is you will get a note on the windshield telling you if you don't move the car, it will be towed. Then when you leave you will be charged $25. That was our experience in 2003/2004. We even asked the lot attendant and they explained what would happen. This year for the difference in price, we'll park in one of the garages across from the Market Place. I should have mentioned that piers 5/6 parking is right next to pier 2. http://www.state.hi.us/dot/harbors/honolulu.htm scroll down for the map showing the piers. Hello Dan, do all Cruise ship go to Pier 2. We will be on the Radiance of the Seas Oct 2008 to Hawaii out of San Diego and was also wondering if we rent a car where we can park it over night. The lot at the Market Place is that close. Thank you.
Oahucruiser Posted May 20, 2007 #5 Share Posted May 20, 2007 The 3 NCL ships dock at pier 2 now and all other ships from other cruise lines dock at pier 10 where Aloha Market Place is. Aloha, Patti
bug_dan Posted May 21, 2007 #6 Share Posted May 21, 2007 You'll be able to find your ship on this schedule http://www.hawaii.gov/dot/harbors/oahu/2008cruise.htm As you can see, the schedule doesn't appear to be definite yet. Pride of Aloha and the Summit both appear to be using pier 11 on Oct 1 and 2 while the Radiance has a question mark for Oct 2. I'd recommend you save the web site and check closer to your departure. Notice also that the Pride ships appear to be using pier 11 again??
Desert Cruizers Posted May 21, 2007 #7 Share Posted May 21, 2007 Thank you, we are still a good 15 months out, Oct 11, 2008. for our Hawaii Cruise out of San Diego, the Serenade is doing it for Oct 2007.
AZ Karaoke Girl Posted May 21, 2007 #8 Share Posted May 21, 2007 Thanks for the site. Note: on Pride ships, notation at bottom says "If no pier is indicated next to the dates above, Pier 2 is the assigned pier." My travel docs I just received say pier 2 for POH on May28th. I'm going to bookmark this site as this seems to be a fairly common question.
bug_dan Posted May 22, 2007 #9 Share Posted May 22, 2007 If you change the 2008 to 2007 in the address, you get the calender for 2007. I just noticed that Rhapsody of the Seas is also scheduled for Oct 1 and 2 in 2008. Seems strange that RCCL would have two cruises at the same time in Honolulu although possibly one or both are repositioning???
