Having read all the info. regarding Maxjet and whatever info. was offered on the site about Silverjet..can I ask specifically if any of you have facts regarding how often Silverjet has had to cancel their transatlantic flight Newark / Luton for example for mechanical reasons?

What will happen to Silverjet PAX should the flight be cancelled on the overnight you are to fly? If your cruise company has booked you on this flight as part of your package and you did not buy the air seats independently , would they or Silverjet be responsible for what happens to you while you wait for the flight problem to be resolved eg. an overnight hotel arrangement?

We will have an independent onward flight booked from Luton on the arrival morning on a "no change, no refund" basis as this is the only way for us to get home from Luton . If the overnight flight does not happen this would obviously need to be rebooked and paid for again ...would Silverjet be liable to pick up this cost as they were responsible for getting us to Luton on time or is it just tough luck...you missed your onward flight!

Thanks for any input you can offer.

I've given you a partial answer on another thread, but here goes:-

As you'd be flying back to the UK on an EU airline, the EU Regulation should apply if there is any delay. The airline is required to accommodate and feed you during the delay, amongst other things.

But if you miss an independently-booked onward flight from Luton because of a delay, Silverjet would not be legally responsible for any extra costs you incur. Your travel insurance might cover them, though.

In either case, the airline may well do more than the legal minimum, including finding some other way for you to get back to the UK rather than wait for the delayed flight - particularly as Silverjet has a "quality service" image. But this would strictly speaking be purely discretionary.

Thanks Globaliser...must have missed your partial answer on the other thread but any info is indeed welcome...don't want to go complaining if we have no rock solid grounds for complaint...don't want any hassle , just to know what to expect in a worst case scenario..thanks so much for taking the trouble to respond....I very much appreciate it!
