kayaking in South Polynesia

Recommended Posts

Have been reading the cruise critic boards, but have not seen much info on whether kayaks are available to rent on any of the islands. We will be on the TP 10 day cruise. Have Jan's book, not much info there either. Will some of the resorts let you rent kayaks if you are not staying there? How much do they charge?

We have our own kayaks and enjoy taking them out on local lakes (none of that white water:eek: ). Also thought about buying an inflatable kayak to take, but with weight limits on airlines wasn't sure if this was a possibility. Also are the kayaks in Tahiti the sit on or sit in type.

Any info would be appreciated.:)

Scroll down to "Beaches" and they have some information there. Also check out all the other Islands under "Destinations" and I think you will find some more info on kayaks.

I'm sorry I haven't been to Tahiti yet so I can't answer your other questions, but good luck!

The link below has some good info on the different islands & what water activities are available. We used the info to rent a boat on Huahine and went & found our own beach. They also rent kayaks, which I believe were Ocean Kayak Malibu models.

Thanks for the great picures !! Makes us even more excited.

Thanks for the web sites, will check them out.

Went back to Jan Prince's book and was able to find more info on renting kayaks on 3 of the islands. I guess I just had to search a little harder. If anyone else needs info on kayaking and doesn't have her book, let me know and I will send the info.

We have gotten a ton of information on this site, thanks for all the help

Here's hoping that my husband's passport comes soon ! Yes, I've read the forum on that too.
