june1 Posted July 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2007 Just read the Gate 1 book for 2008 and they use the riverboats, Amadeus Symphony and Royal. Do they rent them for these cruises? Also, why are their prices more reasonable? Are they a good value? Any answers will be appreciated. June1
DeniceRG Posted July 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 3, 2007 We went on Gate 1's Christmas Market Cruise last year and had a blast. Don't know why their prices are lower, but nothing to worry about. Our shore excursions (except a couple) and wine with dinner was included in the price. We were on the Viktoria, on the Danube.
Rare steamboats Posted July 3, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 3, 2007 June1, Gate1 does not have own river cruise ships. This year they "used" the MS Bolero and MS Deutschland. They also offered some cruises on a couple of Deilmann boats. In 2008 they are offering the Amadeus Symphony and the Amadeus Royal. Both ships are owned by the Austrian company Lueftner (http://www.lueftner-cruises.at/). I assume that Gate1 is doing a partial or full charter of the ships. The MS Bolero is also used by a German cruise company and the same cruises were offered on the German market and by Gate1. The Amadeus Symphony was the first ship Amadeus Waterways did used in full charter from Lueftner. When you´re doing a full charter you more or less rent the whole ship and therefore you get a better price which you can offer to your customers. With a partial charter you buy a certain amount of cabins in advance and get a special group rate price too which you can offer to your customers. That´s why Gate1 can offer good prices. steamboats
