View from Mt. Roberts

On a clear day...can you see the Mendenhall glacier from the mountaintop?

 

How much time is needed to go to the top and back down? How late are they open (June 14th)

From the top of Mt. Roberts, there's a mountain between you and the glacier. But if you want a good view of the glacier the east loop trail from the glacier visitor's center was very good. But it takes 3-5 hours to hike it. But the whole route is nice (glacier/lake view, waterfalls, ...)

 

The tram itself only takes a few minutes. The rest is however long you want to stay up there.

 

In early Aug, we took the last tram down at 10pm.

The Mendenhall glacier is in "the valley" and the tram up Mt. Roberts is downtown they are about a 20 minute drive apart, you can take a bus or a cab, I'm sure they have trasport to the glacier on the dock.

A mentioned- no views of Mendenhall from Mt. Roberts. And actually only 2 full open areas on the East Loop trail with Mendenhall views now. Overgrown trees block most of the views.

You can also rent a car inexpensively in Juneau, go to Mendenhal and St. Therese for under $35.
