Taxi from Lima airport

Does anyone have experience with taxi's from Lima airport into town. We arive about 10:30pm and want to get to our hotel fairly quickly. Any recommendations? Thanks. Pat

There will be lots of drivers waiting after you go thru customs. It will run about $20 US. We arrived around 5 AM a few months ago and there were no less than 50 drivers waiting. There is also a taxi stand inside just after you clear customs. Our hotel got our cab for us for $12. If you can have your hotel get on it is a little cheaper.

DO NOT and I repeat, DO NOT wander outside to the taxi area and just get in any taxi. Have your hotel send a car. I don't know of a hotel in Lima that will not send a car and driver, even the budget youth hostels. Your driver will go INTO the airport WITH A SIGN and lead you to your car

 

Lots of weirdos, rip offs, etc at the Lima airport. Tourists have gotten into taxis and been robbed and dumped off in bad parts of town. The airport is in one of the WORST parts of Lima. Please be careful-do NOT go wandering around outside at night.
