Texas Giant Posted July 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2007 Planning an Alaskan cruise next summer (July/August '08) to celebrate parents' 50th anniversary. Of the itineraries I've reviewed so far, the main choices for glacier viewing are either Hubbard Glacier or Glacier Bay. Any suggestions?
greydog Posted July 24, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2007 Hi: We did 26glaciers tour on hi-speed large catamaran last year in Prince William Sound from Whittier. It was about 5 hours and they advertise seeing 26 glaciers on trip - they zoom smoothly at 40 knots. We had dreary weather day but the boat got up close and personal with a few glaciers with others at a distance. Boat would slow to 1 knot and bump its way thru ice floats to close glacier proximity. Had lunch, heated and open viewing deck. - Good Trip try http://www.26glaciers.com
