Exercising and Eating right = weight loss, right?

My kids got me an iPod for walking, traveling, gardening, waiting for appointments and it's been fun to not only put my favorite CD's on it, but actually add just some fun new music without buying the whole CD.

Do you have one? If so, I thought it'd be fun to list your first 3 songs on your iPod that you use to get your feet, mind and spirit geared up for a good walk, run, roller blade, gym and any other form of exercise that gets you going! Is it Rock, Jazz, Blue Grass, Country, Christian, Instrumental, Classical, Pop, Hip Hop, Oldies? List them!

Ride like the Wind - Christopher Cross

Rockin Down the Highway - Doobie Brothers

Crazy Little thing Called Love - Queen

*My choice of exercise is walking - a LOT! :D These songs get me in a good pace and are fun to sing along with!

So the theme in this thread is workout music - What's on your iPod?

The only exercise I do is Spin. I love it and its a great way to lose weight.

Here is the entire list of songs I use on my spin bike to keep me going:

Toxic - Britney Spears (Lenny Bertoldo Mix Show Edit)

Tell me - P Diddy featuring Christina Aguilera

Bodies - Drowning Pool

I hate everything about you - Three Days Grace

Feel Good Inc. - Gorillaz

Best of You - Foo Fighters

When Doves Cry - Vertical Vibe (on Kathy Smith Powermix 2)

Tubthumping - Chumbawamba

Pump it - Black Eyed Peas

Go - Moby (2006 Mix Anywhere Anytime Nike Outdoor conditioning CD)

Begin to Spin Me Round (extended Version) - Dannii Minogue

Lose Yourself - Eminem

Mr. Brightside - The Killers

Smack my B*tch up - The Prodigy

I'm 29 so some of these might be alittle crazy for some people. But they all have such good beats to them.

Bodies and Smack my b*tch up are really hard core songs but there are sooo good for endurance. Some of these songs we actually use in my spin class at the gym as well.

Oh and if you are using itunes you can get some really good ones from the Nike sports section on the home page of itunes. (left hand side)

Well good luck to everyone who is trying to lose weight! :D

This may sound stupid, but I begin elliptical with:

Grey Seal - Elton John

Sympathy for the Devil - Rolling Stones

Rock and Roll - Led Zeppelin

Kind of a wierd mix, but I am older and like classic rock

Hey,

Thanks M&M! - I have never noticed the Nike music! I'll have to look a little closer! Funny, but I'm going to have to confess that I don't think I've ever heard any of the songs you listed - hmmmm.... I'll check a few of them out! Think my computer speakers can handle it? LOL!

tada - Stupid? NOT if it Helps you get you through your work out!! yeah, look at what I listen to - I think they are considered Oldies these days too! :D

Jane - I'm a treadmill walker when the weather is bad here too! Kirk Franklin has some great stuff too! P&W is awesome for cool down and Scrapbooking!

Thanks for posting - what a variety of music, eh?

Well, I just got my Ipod- and it would be easier to tell you what the first three CDs are on my Ipod- the first three, and only three:

Pirates of the Caribbean Sountrack #1

Pirates of the Caribbean Soundtrack #2

Pirates of the Caribbean Soundtrack #3

Notice a trend here? The PoTC soundtracks are awesome for walking and biking. All the swordfighting scenes, and Jack's Theme, which is a reoccurring theme through all three CDs, is SO inspiring- good for moving your body!

Ottergirl - P O C soundtrack! Great Suggestion! I'll have to take some time to listen to them too!

Any one listen to Swing Music to work out? Country?

Come on iPoders - Are you using your iPod to work out? Share your best music - I'm sure there are others that would like suggestions on work out music!

If you don't have an iPod - they are great - and very EASY to load music on! Imagine all of your CD's that are favorites of yours - and they are just collecting dust - but could be just at your finger tips and listened too!

Anyone who can get themselves around on CC - you can have your own library of work out music to get you going - Whatever your choice of exercise! And if you know any teenagers that can use a computer - well, your set! :D

As promised (this is just for today, it changes daily!!!) :D

I try to match the pace of the song to the exercise, but of course, some work for both depending on your pace.

cruisers7771, I like a lot of your songs too!

For elliptical/walking:

1. We Didn't Start the Fire - Billy Joel

2. Accidentally in Love - Counting Crows

3. The Sweet Escape - Gwen Stefani

4. A Public Affair - Jessica Simpson

5. Sexyback - Justin Timberlake

6. Lose My Breath - Destiny's Child <---my recent fave

For running:

1. Friday I'm in Love - The Cure

2. Since You Been Gone - Kelly Clarkson

3. Mr. Brightside - The Killers

4. Unwritten - Natasha Bedingfield

5. SOS - Rihanna

6. Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend

I don't usually listen to a lot of pop music, but I have to admit that it's GREAT for working out.

Hi Annie and other iPoders,

I guess I'll have to answer - sometimes! :D Walking and talking has always been such a part of our relationship - ever since we were dating and newlyweds - cheap, fun, cheap, healthy and cheap! :D My kids got my iPod for me for my birthday in Feb - I think that it was mostly because they got the biggest laugh out of it as I had no idea how to use it or get started with it! But not for long!!

Then my DH got his a few weeks before our Alaska Cruise for airports, flying etc.... What is pretty cool is that we both have jobs that we can use our iPod whenever we want too! But when we walk and take iPods - we just put in one ear piece and tuck the other one in our shirt - and keep them down low enough to still talk and walk. Sometimes we don't take them - because we use this time to discuss our day and just talk. I found a cool case for mine that has a clip that I can attach on any shorts or pants I have on walking and it protects the face, I'll see if I can find a link.

Do you have a lot of CD's that you enjoy listening to but can play them as you walk? :) iPod is the answer!

What a great thread. I don't own an iPod but I wish I did. :( If I did own one, the first three songs would probably be:

Something by Springsteen

Something by Foreigner

Something by either Cheap Trick or REO Speedwagon

When I owned a treadmill and used that all the time Foreigner was great to get me going. When I worked out in my pool, when I had my own, I'd start my workouts with Springsteen. Now I do my water aerobics with other people, so we just laugh and have a good time!

I upgraded from a shuffle to a nano earlier this year so I could get the Nike+ sport kit. So my favorite powersongs are:

Bleed by Nirvana

Faster Kill Pussycat by Oakenfold (w/ Brittany Murphy)

Poprocks and Coke by Green Day (really anything by Green Day)

Somehow Ghost Riders in the Sky by Johnny Cash got slotted there.. not something I would have thought to be a good work out song, but I loved it!

Thanks for so many posts! Isn't it interesting to see how people work out to all different types of music?!?! I hope that this thread has encouraged some to get their favorite music on their iPod's, a new sound or remind us of some old favorites that we haven't listened to in a long time that we can add! :)

If you haven't yet - and want to share your iPod music - Please do! :D
