Arecibo Radio Observatory

My daughter and my husband would like to visit the Arecibo Radio Observatory during our stop in San Juan in February. The ship will not dock until about 2:00 p.m. and we are scheduled to sail at 8:00 p.m. Is it possible to get to the observatory and back in that time frame? If the answer is yes, are there tours that go there and if so about how much does it cost?

the last time i went there it took me 2 hours to get there. they have a schedule but it changes frequently.

Your arrival time really does not make the observatory possible.

We were there for 3 days precruise and due to their "weird" schedule we never did make it.

 

Due a web search and there are some links to information. No tours there that I know of. We were going to drive ourselves.

Arecibo, where the telescope is situated, is a long way from San Juan, assuming you do not hit traffic on the toll road and make it up the winding mountain road.
