No, its not wheeled dog sledding.

It is an adventure based 'off road go kart' thru a private wilderness area, via logging roads.

While I have not done it, I have heard about it.

Supposedly that tour is already sold out for the season...

Just returned from a B2B and my husband did the sportfishing. Very disappointed since you had to take turns with the poles and only one King was caught so he never even had a chance. However he also took the Wilderness Fishing excursion and it was great. Everyone has their own pole and he caught lots of fish. They then prepared the caught and had a great shore lunch over an open fire. A bit more money but it was the highlite of his trip.

We also did the Wilderness Fishing & dining excursion in Ketchikan. The best excursion we have EVER done!!! Caught lots of fish - each one has their own fishing rod - 4 people on the boat plus the guide. The meal was more than delicious yummmm! They take you to a private island and prepare the fish you've caught.

The last time we went to Alaska we did the Sportfishing in Ketchikan and never caught a thing - we'll noever do that excursion again.

We also just returned last week. My husband did the Ketchikan Sportfishing and thought it was a complete waste of money. They didn't even get to touch the rods. The guide set up the poles and put them into the rod holders, then every five minutes or so he would check the lines. If anyone went to touch a pole they were told that he would take care of it.....even though he told them he wasn't supposed to.

"the boat" caught one 20lb salmon which nobody else could have shipped home so DH took it and is having it flash frozen and sent home. I think that cost an additional $80..... we did get one expensive fish out of it but not the pleasure of catching it.

Recently booked the sportfishing excursion for our cruise in August. Has anyone done this excursion in August? I am just wondering if the lack of fish was due to the time of the season. My husband and friends would be totally disappointed if they did not get the opportunity to catch a salmon. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, We have been to Alaska twice on cruises. We highly reccomend Ken of Northern Lights for fishing in Ketchican. Last July we went with Ken and caught 9 Kings from 20 to 35Lb. each. He is a class act. You can reach Ken at fishingketchikan@kpunet.net . Good luck to everyone going fishing

Is there a decent fishing option that won't break the bank? The kids have never been fishing, but want to try. But I know them, a six hour fishing trip would be too much.

It sounded like fishing from the pier or shoreline might work, but can you actually catch fish successfully that way?
